Before & after

Karen and Bobby were here to do our drywall work. Look at the difference in her skin after using Arbonne's anti aging RE9 set for 3 days! She looks 10 years younger.

I'm falling & I can't get up!

I will never laugh at that commercial again because that was me on Fri. Nov. 27th. We had been sleeping on the mattress directly on the floor in the breakfast room. That morning we set up our bed with new bedding in the bedroom. I was so excited!

I got up in the middle of the night, tripped over a step stool, and fell smack dab in the middle of tools, 5 gallon buckets, paint trays, & heaven knows what else.
I've never known such pain & bear in mind that I have 2 children & 3 surgeries under my belt.

I went back to the doctor today; he gave me a prescription for an anti inflammatory which does nothing for pain. (thanks doc) Afterward we bought shoes for Jeff. This whole situation is driving me nuts.....but there's nothing I can do but wait for enough time to pass for my body to heal. Thank God I didn't break any bones. Jeff has waited on me hand and foot and taking care of me and everything else around here.

Drywallers are here

Tony & the crew left a couple of weeks ago so now Bobby & Karen are here to drywall/paint; they'll be here until the 22nd. The living room, office, & family room are finished & painted. Well...not exactly finished, there's still some trim work to do so I still don't have my furniture in there. AARGH! The living room color (these are porter colors) is called "sawdust", which is yellow/gold & the office is "shiny silk," a lighter version. The family room is Honey Beige and tomorrow the 1/2 bath off the family room will be painted Toffee Crunch. Our bedroom will be Pickling Spice, a pretty green color and the spa bath will be "simply elegant", a light silvery/blue color. I think it'll look great with the polished nickel fixtures and the mirrors.
Jeff has finally learned the secret to a great relationship :)

Space Shuttle Endeavor

Picture is from The Shreveport Times, since I left my camera at home. Drat!
The Space Shuttle, Endeavor, left Barksdale Air Force Base this morning headed for Cape Canaveral, Florida. It was scheduled to leave at 11 am so we pulled into the Southern Maid Donut shop's parking lot at 10:45 to wait. Around 11:05, Jeff decided he was going to get closer to the base so we found another spot. No sooner than we got out of the car, it came flying straight toward us and then passed right by us as it slowly ascended into the sky. It was a great experience.

Melissa & I at the St. James Art Festival

Melissa and I enjoy our annual trek to St James every year and since the festival always falls around her birthday, we make a celebration out of it. As you can see from the picture, it was a beautiful day & we had soooooo much fun. We both bought the same beautiful ring; it's a silver contemporary ring with a pearl on it. Look closely at the picture and you can see them. We knew we could always look at it and remember this day. Afterall, I was moving at the end of the month and Melissa and her family would be moving in March for Jon's residency. We realized our lives would never be the same, but we did vow that we would make it back one day. My ring is still packed away, but I'm going to find it and wear it today.

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Jeff's Aunt Lee invited us to spend it with her family. She has 4 sons, Tom, Butch, Bubba, and Darrell. Tom & Connie hosted it at their house in Colfax, LA, about 2 hours from here. Butch & Pat live in Lake Charles, LA and Bubba & Libby live in Mangham, LA. Darrell & Hope live in Clearwater, Fl and weren't there. Aunt Lee is so cute, she's in her 80's and she has a "friend" named Mr. Newman. They knew each other when they were kids and both married other people who later passed away. They went out to dinner 5 years ago and have been together ever since. They were adorable. The food was terrific. We had turkey, ham, & brisket along with dirty rice, corn bread dressing, squash casserole, broccoli & rice casserole, green beans w/new potatoes, cranberry freeze and rolls. There was a huge dessert assortment. blackberry cream pie, blueberry cheesecake, pecan pie, carrot cake, peach cobbler, chocolate pie, brownies, and Jeff's famous cookies. He poured a toffee syrup over saltines and topped it off with chocolate chips and pecans as it came out of the oven. Yum :) We feel very thankful for all our blessings!

Construction Crew is Gone

Tony & the boys left late Friday night. We spent Sat night at the hotel and came home Sunday morning to a quiet house. I worked most of the day sweeping and cleaning up the mess on the carport. It was pretty cool outside but once I got to working, the weather was perfect. The sun came out late in the afternoon. Jeff and I are watching a movie on tv.....gee it's pitch black now at 5:30. I'll be glad when the days are longer. It's gonna be in the mid to high 60's this week, so I'll be able to get outside most every day.

Two Octobers! Well...sorta

October is my favorite month because the weather is perfect; sunny days with bright blue skys & cool winds. I spent my first Oct. in Louisville, KY, and now I feel like it's October again here in Louisiana in November. This makes me soooooo happy!

Dreaming of Normalcy while Renovating

It's been a great day. We stayed at the Springhill Suites at Louisiana Downs for the past 2 nights. Such nice rooms & free breakfast to boot. But the shower, omigosh, I thought I'd never get out. I asked Jeff if I stunk. He said no, that I smelled like baby wipes. Very charming, I thought! After breakfast we watched the jockeys & horses work out on the track behind the hotel.

I got home this morning & tried to clean as best I could (this is like using baby wipes instead of taking a shower.) I swept, put away dry dishes & washed the dirty ones. Have I mentioned that the house has no dishwasher? I didn't know houses came w/o dishwashers & garbage disposals anymore. Hope a dishwasher is in the budget. The new 1/2 bath is usable now. I bought a picture for it and am going to use it to determine the paint color for the bath and the family room, or Jeff's room as we call it. The living room is in the front of the house and is my room. Of course we can sit in each others room, don't get me wrong.....but sometimes, you just need to get away by yourself. Jeff asked me if he could decorate his "room" any way he wanted. I said yes, as long as it is approved by the general contractor :)

Tony started laying tile in the master bath today. The room is walled in so I can tell where everything will be. It's gonna be a terrific bathroom, even better than I imagined.

I went outside this afternoon to sit in the sun. I had to wear a jacket at first, but then it got warmer & I took it off. Our burn pile was flaming. We have garbage pick up once a week, but us country people also have a burn pile. I read the USA today & just felt so cozy.

It's Hard to be an Arbonne girl with no Water

Hey y'all!

I feel so good this morning; you know how I hate cold, dreary days. I got up & sat on the front porch with a cup of coffee to enjoy the fresh air & sunshine. OK, now for the bad part...the water has been cut off for 3 days. Thank God for baby wipes, I never knew they would be my salvation! I can't wait to take a long, hot shower!
